The Next Generation of Farming: Free Rein Creative Launches the New Ferg's Fabulous Fungi Website
Some businesses have decades of history behind them. Some have boardrooms, investors, and marketing teams. And then there's Ferg's Fabulous Fungi. Born from a middle school science project in 2015, grown on a family farm in Greenleaf, Idaho, and now one of the most exciting small farms in the Treasure Valley. When founder Brody Ferguson was ready to take Ferg's to the next level, he partnered with Free Rein Creative to build a website that could finally do justice to the story behind the mushrooms.
The challenge wasn't just building an online shop. It was capturing something harder to put into a template: the personality, the passion, and the genuine sense of wonder that makes Ferg's what it is. Brody didn't get into farming because it was practical. He got into it because fungi are fascinating, and that curiosity is contagious. The website needed to make a visitor feel that the moment they landed on it.
Free Rein Creative approached the project the same way they approach all of their work: by starting with the story. Because Ferg's story is genuinely remarkable. A kid starts growing mushrooms for a science fair. A decade later, he's running Idaho's premier mushroom farm, supplying restaurants and farmers markets across the Treasure Valley, partnering with local businesses, and offering everything from fresh gourmet varieties to mushroom cocoa, dried mushrooms, handcrafted seasonings, and beginner-friendly grow kits that let anyone try their hand at growing Lion's Mane or Blue Oyster mushrooms right on their kitchen counter.
That range needed a home that felt cohesive and welcoming rather than overwhelming. Free Rein built a site that guides visitors naturally through the world of Ferg's, who Brody is, where the farm is, what they grow, why it matters, and how to get it on your table. Whether someone is a longtime mushroom enthusiast or someone who just heard about Lion's Mane for the first time and is curious, the site meets them where they are.
What Free Rein understood from the start is that Ferg's isn't just selling mushrooms. They're inviting people into a different way of thinking about food. One that's local, sustainable, nutritious, and genuinely fun.
That's the same thread that runs through everything Free Rein has built for Idaho's agricultural and food community, the work is always about helping people find each other, understand each other, and support the people growing their food.
